Bestest Sport Ever

Photobucket

First, I would like to be the guy who lines up and pushes the stone in slow motion.
That - is my goal in life.

If I can't do that, I want to be the coach screaming, "Prepare the ice! Prepare the ice!"
That - is my second goal in life.
Seriously, does it not look like these guys are mopping for sport? I could do that, too!

Curling - bestest, most excitingest Olympic sport EVER.

Haha! Dad, Bro and I saw it on TV at a restaurant last night, and discussed our puzzlement over the scraping. What does that even do? Does it clear scrapes of ice off so it can go faster? (Bro's theory) Does it make marks in the ice, to slow it down? (My theory) Does it heat the ice, making it melt and therefore faster? (Waitress, with a history of ice skating). Can you clear it up?

Ha ha ha - I haven't been watching much of the Olympics, but I went to college very close to the Canadian border, so I know all about curling (and hockey - our school had no football team, but a great hockey team!) They also play a sport called broomball - played on the ice (in boots, not skates) using brooms to push a ball around! Those crazy Canadians...and how about that bacon??

We lived in Canada for five years and my husband joined a curling team with his fellow workers. I'd go and watch but I never could figure it out. All I remember was being cold! Afterward, he admitted to me that he never figured it out either. Ha!

Haha Toni!! I love that. It's always so nice to read something and chuckle out loud, isn't it? I'm still laughing. I can't believe your husband didn't get it after playing. lol

I always knew about Curling, but I never understood or watched it. Until these olympics. I was flipping channels and came across curling and started watching just to see if I could grasp the concept and understand the rules. The next thing I know, I'm completely into it, and before long I'm tuning in every day to watch Curling. Now I know it so much better and just love it. I even looked it up online and read through the rules and all the "lingo" they use. I wish we could see it more than once every four years.

believe it or not...
